from the author

EXTRAORDINARY RETRIBUTION is the second novel in the INTEL 1 series of counter-terrorism/espionage global thrillers.

The story came to me from troubling thoughts about the compromise between liberty and security free societies must make. What is labeled by some as "collateral damage" that is unavoidable in a war (even one on terror), is to the unjustly tormented a far more personal reality. The ghosts of souls broken by wars throughout the ages would certainly haunt our societies if they existed. EXTRAORDINARY RETRIBUTION was written because I heard their voices and could not get them out of my mind. As with book 1 of the series, THE RAGNARÖK CONSPIRACY, the genesis of the novel was as much from an effort to exorcise these voices as tell an involving story.

In the process, two new characters came to life that have become a part of me and the continuing series. One is a rogue CIA agent, something not unusual for the genre. The other is a Catholic priest, which is decidedly not a common element in a high-octane thriller. Both go through a transformation by fire that forever changes their lives.
